Earlier this week, I decorated a Disney Frozen Christmas tree as a fundraiser in my kids’ school, inspired by the movie. For the past 4 years, I’ve decorated a tree that is put up on tickets at the school’s annual bake sale. The lucky winner has the tree delivered to them fully decorated in mid-December, and the funds raised go… Read More
Hello, lovelies. Today, I’m happy to be participating once again in a Christmas Home Tour with a group of talented and creative Canadian bloggers who I admire so much! One of the things I love so much about holiday home tours is all the inspiration you can get. If you haven’t started your Christmas decorating yet, you’ll get all kinds… Read More
This Christmas season, I’ve been inspired by all things mini in mason jars. If you frequent Pinterest or Instagram, then you’ve certainly seen your share of mason jar snow globes. I’m obsessed with them! I’ll show you a few that I created in another post. Tonight, I wanted to share these cute DIY personalized Christmas ornaments that I created using… Read More
Hope you had a lovely weekend! I don’t know about you, but around here, the weekends are certainly starting to feel busy as Christmas is fast-approaching. It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is December 1st! Earlier this week, my sister and I had the pleasure of decorating a fundraiser Christmas tree for my daughter’s school. This is the third year… Read More
Over the past week, I’ve been in my Christmas decorating ‘Happy Place’. Yep, it’s the time of year when our home has the distinct scent of a hot glue gun and a Balsam & Cedar candle mixed with Starbucks holiday blend. And, if you need me, you can usually find me sitting on the floor, happily sifting through bins of baubles,… Read More
Greetings friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and are enjoying lots of time with family and friends. I’ve been away from the blog for a couple of weeks to focus on the merriment! But as New Year’s Eve draws nearer, I thought I’d continue with my annual tradition of posting a look back at my year in mantel decorating ideas. You can find my 2012 Year of Mantels here and 2011 Year of Mantels here.
If you’ve been following along here for awhile, you might know already that my fireplace mantel is a bit of a decorating muse for me! I find that mantel decorating for seasons and special holidays helps keep things feeling festive around here, especially during the less festive times of year. Looking back at 2013, I changed my mantel decorating a lot less frequently than in other years. That’s because the room our fireplace is in was disorganized for several months as we changed the room from a living room to a TV room. But I did manage to add some festive spirit to the mantel for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Fall, Halloween and Christmas… READ MORE HERE!
If you’ve been following my blog awhile, you may have seen our Dr. Seuss Christmas tree in earlier years. I’m a big fan of Dr. Seuss, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas (with Jim Carey) is our favorite Christmas movie of all time. (“Holiday, Hoobie, Whatty?” is my favorite Grinch quote!) The movie is hilarious and has such a great Christmas message. So, 3 years ago, I decided that it would be super fun to create a tree for our kids filled with all things Who-ville and Dr. Seuss. Who am I kidding? I love it as much as them!

Did you catch my post about our gold and white Christmas tree the other day? I’ve also added some other gold and white Christmas decorating touches around the house. This year’s Christmas decorating is a little more glam than usual!
Gold and White Christmas Decor: The Foyer
I hesitate to call this a Holiday House Tour like some of those you’ll see on other decorating blogs this time of year. Have you seen some of those? Wowsa, soooo beautiful, and so thorough! (If you follow me on Facebook, I’ve been sharing some of my faves over there.)
The thing is, photographing a holiday house tour requires a tidy home and well, mine, just isn’t! (Yet?). (You see my 2012 holiday house tour here and my 2011 holiday house tour here). Keepin’ it real: there’s still some random Christmas decorating bins and bags hanging out in the corners, along with the regular daily stuff that 3 kids leave behind. So to spare you from all that, I’ve just photographed some of the little pops of Christmas you’ll find around our home.
In the foyer, you’ll find our new white deer head hanging in a big green wreath (more on styling this guy in another post!), with some gold polka dot ribbon. The foyer table has a little white tree decked out in gold and light blue beaded garlands. READ MORE
The idea of a gold and white Christmas tree has been on my mind for awhile now. I’ve been crushing on gold and white decor this year (see Sold on Gold), and there’s no better time to indulge in gold than at Christmas!
Call me crazy, but just about every year, I edit my tree colors. You can see how I manage to change my Christmas tree color scheme affordably over here. In that blog post, I explained that the thing I love best about Christmas decorating is the chance to be creative. Our Christmas tree never looks exactly the same because I enjoy the process of mixing things up. READ MORE HERE
