If you’re looking for birthday ideas for your tween or teen, this post might be for you! Last year, I shared Miss G’s Broadway/Hollywood themed birthday party, along with the super fun diy photo booth we created for it. This year, G came up with another cool birthday idea: an art theme party. Um, hello? The words art AND birthday party in the… Read More
Hello my pretties! Today is a fun day around here! It’s ‘Day 2’ of the Canadian Bloggers Home Tours, and that means you’re invited to our home for a little tour. If you’ve been around awhile, thanks for coming back today, and I promise you that I have some new things for you to see. If you’re new here, welcome to A… Read More
Today I’m finally giving you a glimpse at how the twins ‘big boy bedroom’ turned out. No, I haven’t fallen in a deep dark hole or been abducted by aliens. (Although you might see an alien or two in the post – just sayin’.) But it’s been forever since I’ve been on a regular blogging schedule. Let’s just say there’s… Read More
Well, hello there friends! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been around! I’ve been busy with a big makeover project in the boys’ bedroom. But before getting started, I had to remove vinyl wall decals, so I thought I’d share a couple of tips on what I learned. It seems like just months ago that I shared their toddler room… Read More
Funny how that happens, isn’t it? It creeps up on you. You don’t really notice it until, one morning, when you reach for a ziploc bag while making school lunch, you’re greeted by an avalanche of Born-Free baby bottles, tupperware lids, and more plastic divided plates than a hospital cafeteria. For awhile, you manage to stuff it all back in and shut the doors, hoping the kitchen organizer fairy will visit some night. But she doesn’t come (booo), and pretty soon, even the idea of unloading the dishwasher or unpacking the groceries is exhausting!….Here are 5 easy tips to reclaim more kitchen storage from the space you have.
Better late than never, right? I finally managed to do a little last minute Valentines Day decorating over the past few days. Things have been busy-busy here lately, and if you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed I was away for a few days last week. I thought I might be able to swing right past the 14th without the kids noticing that the only heart to be found around here is on our front door. But I’ve kinda set myself up for the expectation that there’ll be decorations for just about any occasion around here. So when Miss G asked when (and not if) I was planning to decorate for Valentine’s Day, I figured I’d better not disappoint her.
I made a fast and easy Valentines Day banner for the mantel with a few craft supplies. I strung READ MORE!!
Welcome to my first blog post of 2014!
I normally post a couple of times a week, so it’s odd for me to go so long without being here. So far, January has been taken up with all kinds of not-so-fun non-blogging activities: Christmas de-decorating, toy organization, winter storms and power outages (ughhh), and an extended Christmas holiday for our kids (due to the storms and outages).
Now that the kids are back into their routines, I’m focused on getting the house back on track! After 3 straight months of looking at seasonal decor, I always need a little winter decorating detox. The Fall is a seasonal decorator’s dream, and I crave it! Pumpkins, bats, turkeys, boughs, and berries – all with more glitter than a Dancing With the Stars costume. It’s all a whole lot of fun while it happens. But there’s only so much glitter and clutter that my brain can process! READ MORE
Greetings friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and are enjoying lots of time with family and friends. I’ve been away from the blog for a couple of weeks to focus on the merriment! But as New Year’s Eve draws nearer, I thought I’d continue with my annual tradition of posting a look back at my year in mantel decorating ideas. You can find my 2012 Year of Mantels here and 2011 Year of Mantels here.
If you’ve been following along here for awhile, you might know already that my fireplace mantel is a bit of a decorating muse for me! I find that mantel decorating for seasons and special holidays helps keep things feeling festive around here, especially during the less festive times of year. Looking back at 2013, I changed my mantel decorating a lot less frequently than in other years. That’s because the room our fireplace is in was disorganized for several months as we changed the room from a living room to a TV room. But I did manage to add some festive spirit to the mantel for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Fall, Halloween and Christmas… READ MORE HERE!
If you’ve been following my blog awhile, you may have seen our Dr. Seuss Christmas tree in earlier years. I’m a big fan of Dr. Seuss, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas (with Jim Carey) is our favorite Christmas movie of all time. (“Holiday, Hoobie, Whatty?” is my favorite Grinch quote!) The movie is hilarious and has such a great Christmas message. So, 3 years ago, I decided that it would be super fun to create a tree for our kids filled with all things Who-ville and Dr. Seuss. Who am I kidding? I love it as much as them!
Our Dr. Seuss Christmas tree is READ MORE
