I love a pretty statement door. So a few years ago, I wrote a post about front door color ideas that’s still popular this time of year. (See: Front Door Color: 10 Fabulous Front Door Colors (& their paint names!)) Since then, I’ve been obsessed with blue doors in particular. Actually, I’m kinda coo-coo crazy about them. Last year, I painted our… Read More
Hi guys! Since it’s Friday and we’ve all put in a hard week (fist pump), I thought I’d share an entertaining tip that’s so easy it requires almost no thinking at all. I’m going to show you how to tie napkins into bows, a trick that will look super casual and cute on your summer table. Are you in a supper… Read More
You might have noticed in yesterday’s post that I love playing with nautical decor in summer. Having grown up on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, I probably have saltwater running through my veins. Still, I think I’d be drawn to this style even if I lived in the desert. When done right, there’s a timeless appeal to this… Read More
Well hello there, friends, and Happy Summer! It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged about my decorating adventures. Life’s been busy! To keep it real, I also needed to take a little blogging break. I love decorating, I love taking pictures, and I LOVE writing. Usually, the combination is magical. But, now and then, doing them all at the same time can… Read More
By now, you know I love decorating my fireplace mantel for different seasons and holidays. This year’s been a little different: it actually hasn’t changed all that much! I’m not gonna lie: I’ve enjoyed the ease and simplicity of keeping things the same for awhile. But we brought home some pretty beach rocks recently, so I created a beach-y summer… Read More
Every year at this time, I like to visit our little summer cottage. It’s an old two-story home in a quiet town by the ocean. The front door a pretty shade of pale pink, and the window boxes are overflowing with flowers. From the aqua-painted Adirondack chairs, you can hear the waves crash on the nearby beach. The decor is simple and uncluttered, and the worn bookcases are filled with board games and great reads. At night, the front deck is lit only by tea lights in mason jars filled with shells, beach rocks and urchins we’ve collected.
Haven’t I told you about this place before? Oh, um, that’s right. I haven’t. Well…err…that’s because it’s not actually a *real* place. I just visit it in my dreams. (Hey, don’t judge, lol.) But I’ve been dreaming about it for so long that it feels real. That must count for something, right? You see, over a decade ago, we had our wedding reception in a clapboard-sided, saltbox-style B&B in a small town by the Atlantic Ocean. Ever since, I’ve been imagining a summer get-away a lot like that place.
Want to know what my dream summer cottage looks like inside? Come along and I’ll show you!
Well, for starters, the views are stunning.
