Life’s an Adventure! (Attending Haven 2012!)
Tomorrow I’m heading to Atlanta to attend Haven for two full days of inspiring sessions for home bloggers and DIY/decor enthusiasts. It was created and organized by a team of the most well-known home decor bloggers.
When I first heard about Haven a year ago, I thought it sounded like awesome fun, but I didn’t seriously consider going. I’m not a full-time professional blogger or interior designer. What business did I have going? And, let’s face it, it’s a long and expensive trip from Canada. How on earth could I justify the trip simply to indulge my personal passion for home decorating?
But the more I heard about Haven, the more I wanted to go. Like, REALLY wanted to. And, as luck would have it, inspiring quotes like these kept appearing in my Facebook newsfeed and Pinterest stream. Coincidence, lol?

Months went by.
Finally I brought the idea up with my husband. You couldn’t ask for a more supportive reaction. ”You’ve gotta go!” he said. (Seriously awesome hubby,
) I had the Golden Ticket (haha) but I still wasn’t convinced I should.
Awhile later the idea happened to come up in a casual conversation with a friend. Her reaction was exactly the same: “Go!” And, that was the final little push I needed (thanks Tracey!) to invest in something that inspires me.
[Then I ran and booked my non-refundable ticket before the guilt set in and I changed my mind!]
I never would have guessed a few years ago that I’d be writing a home decor blog; let alone be attending a huge home decor blogging conference in Atlanta. Who’d have thunk it? But, what can I say, life’s an adventure!
I’ll leave you with some advice that I’ve always loved; but that I am only starting to have the courage to follow.
“Twenty years from now you will be
more disappointed by the things you didn’t do
than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”
— Mark Twain
Smart man, that Mark Twain
.
Catch up with you on the other side!
Until then,

Welcome to A Pop of Pretty, a Canadian home decorating blog that chronicles my love of home decor and pretty things. I'm out to prove (mostly to myself!) that a pretty home is still possible amid the circus of 3 young kids, including twin toddlers. {More...}Subscribe via RSS…
