I included a picture of this year’s Christmas wreath in yesterday’s big honkin’ house tour post.
But, most of us like things a bit more bite-sized, so I thought I’d talk a little about it here.
This year’s wreath is really an example of using what you have on hand. My favorite part of seasonal decorating is mixing up all the things I own in completely different ways.
If you crave change like me, it could really get expensive to buy new seasonal items every year. Sure, I’ll admit to buying a few new items annually, but most of the ‘newness’ in my holiday decorating comes from simply mixing things up. This year, I decided to change my Christmas color scheme to red and turquoise. But luckily it didn’t mean that I needed many new things; it just meant that I needed to be creative with what I had in my Christmas bins, as well as things that I had around the house.
I used the same greenery wreath as last year, as well as the same red frosted monogram ‘R’. (You can catch up on how to make your own frosted letter in last year’s tutorial here).
All that I really changed was the ribbon (which I purchased this year), as well as the turquoise tin plaque. A week ago, the plaque was cream-colored garden decoration that had faded from the sun and rain. A coat of tiffany blue spray paint (which I always have on hand, lol) was just what it needed to make my wreath pop.
