Here comes the sun: Our Sunshine-Inspired, Front Entrance Gallery Wall!

This post was most recently updated on September 23rd, 2019

What’s up buttercups?  Today, I’m excited to show you a new diy wall art project – a bright and sunny gallery wall in our front entrance!

After two straight weeks of gray/grey skies here, I decided to make my own sunshine!  Well, truth told, this little yellow gallery wall art project has actually been in the works for awhile now – ever since we painted the entrance gray (Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter). But when our lovely spring weather took a nose dive a couple of weeks ago, I figured it was time to get moving on the man-made sunshine.

I think you have to live here  – or anywhere with above average rainfall – to truly get the idea behind this collection of wall art. I’ve talked about our infamous weather a bit around here before.  When you live on an island in the Atlantic, precipitation kinda comes with the territory.  You deal with it, and carry on.  But all those gray days really make you appreciate the bright, sunny ones a whole lot more!

Most of the prints are from artists on Etsy.  In case you’re interested, where applicable, I’ve listed the source of the art below the photo for each particular piece. The yellow ‘Keep Calm & Carry On’ piece was something I found at HomeSense last year.  I’m not really sure why I bought it then , as I  didn’t have anywhere to hang it. But it’s a great sentiment for the front entrance, both weather-wise, and because its where our home’s chaos begins and ends each day ;-).

The frames are all salvaged from my very own home decor graveyard, a.k.a. the storage closet in the basement where my ‘Bored with you, for now’ home decor items go.  (I’ve been told there’s a few toss cushions and lamp shades in there too, lol). One nice day awhile back, I rounded up some of the ones that I was no longer using, and I sprayed them in colors (gray, yellow, blue) that I knew would compliment the prints that I had ordered on Etsy.

I’ve got to be honest, it’s been an exercise in restraint not to add more pieces!  But I’m really working on keeping things simpler around here.  When you think about it, there are endless ‘Sunshine’ lyrics and quotes, like, say, “The sun will come out tomorrow…”, or “You are my sunshine” or even “We’re singing in the rain”.  But this is a tight space, and a narrow wall, for an art collection.  I didn’t want it to become overwhelming.  I wanted it to feel light, happy, and whimsical.

I regret not putting up one sweet print with the line,”Ignore the rain. Look for the rainbow.” from Studio Mela, one of my favorite Etsy shops.  Eventually, I might just HAVE to find a spot for it.  Maybe on one of the other walls!

Thanks for popping by. Hope you got a little dose of Vitamin D!

Until next time,
