I had a bunch of fun decorating my front porch for Halloween with no-carve pumpkins this past weekend. I mentioned in my Halloween mantel post the other day that I’ve never really been one for Halloween. (I know, I know, boo to me.) But this year, I’m really enjoying get the kids all hyped up about it. One of my 2-year old twin boys likes to walk around pointing at everything saying, “How-o-weeeeen!” and “Pun-kin!”. It’s pretty darn sweet.
Thanks to him, Mommy’s excited about Halloween decorating this year! None of our ‘pun-kins’ are carved yet. We usually wait until a day or two before ‘How-o-weeeen’ night. So for, now, they are all disguised in their best masquerade attire. I love the idea of no-carve pumpkins, don’t you? It just makes things a whole lot easier!
All you need to pull this off are pun-kins, a bunch of glittery masks from the dollar store (a buck fifty each) and a staple gun. What could be cheaper and easier, right? I thought about embellishing them a little more (there’s so many awesome inspiration photos on Pinterest), perhaps using thumbtacks for mouths and eyes, but in the end, mommy’s allotted Saturday ‘me time’ (i.e., decorating time) ran out and I kept it simple! I think their faceless-ness just adds to their mystique!
Over the front door, I strung some orange lights, but jazzed them up with some glittery die cuts from the dollar store. I bought 3 different styles and strung them along a piece of twine with a few other ribbon embellishment, and then simply wrapped them around the lights.
On my door, you’ll see the three-tiered googly-eyed bat wreath that I made and posted about just over a week ago. It’s holding up great, with the exception a mysterious missing googly eye one morning (noo-noo-n00-noo). We think it was a ghost because that thing was seriously glue-gunned down hard! No worries though, mommy performed eye surgery and ta-da, it’s all back to normal (for now!).
