“Auld Lang Syne” New Years Printable (Happy New Year!)

This post was most recently updated on January 1st, 2020

Happy New Years Eve, my lovelies!  However you plan to celebrate, I hope it is filled with lots of love, laughter and big, bright dreams for 2014!  I made this little 8×10 New Years Eve chalkboard printable to frame for my mantel, and thought I’d share it with you all too.

I love the New Years anthem that plays when the clock strikes midnight! What makes it even better is how everybody has their own version of the lyrics. Tonight, listen closely to your friends, and you’ll probably hear everything from Old Man Zine to Old Lang’s Sign!  I think I might have sung a version like this too until I finally figured out what the lyrics really were…

New Years Printable: Auld Lang Syne

Apparently, “Auld Lang Syne” is a Scots poem written in the late 1700s, and the words can be loosely translated into English as “the good old times” (Merriam Webster dictionary). So when we sing, “for auld lang syne“, it can be loosely translated as “for (the sake of) good old times” (Wiki and How Auld Lang Syne Took Over the World.)  So, tonight, have a cup of something good with some dear old friends, and toast to “auld lang syne”!

To use this New Years printable, just right click, save, and print however you wish.

Enjoy this very last day of 2013!
