November decor: a blast or a bore? {November decorating ideas}

This post was most recently updated on September 23rd, 2019

For a fanatical seasonal decorator like me, November is a bore.

In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in early October, which means that November is like a black hole between October’s spook and December’s sparkle.  What usually happens is that I end up decorating for Christmas too early.

“Too early” is a totally subjective thing, I realize. There’s more than a few Christmas fans out there who happily hoist their trees in November! (Don’t think we can’t see the lights twinkling through your windows, lol). Hey, whatever floats your boat.  If it makes you happy, go for it. Personally, for me “too early” is anything earlier than December 1st.  In many past years, I’ve decorated in late November, but by Christmas Eve, I’ve been itching to get it all down.

So this year, I’m trying a different approach. I’ve added a little wintery cheer as a nod to the upcoming season, but I’m saving the sparkle until after Dec 1st.  That way, I get my Christmas fix in November, but still have some decorating fun to look forward to.

So here’s a few of my ideas on how to transform your home for the season this month, without overdoing it on the ‘overtly Christmas’ decor before December arrives…

Simple evergreen balls in a dish.

Furry pillows.

Silver, glittery ‘Fall’ decor.

Potted evergreens.

Red berries (in a country star).

Cozy throws.

Warm mittens.

Creamy pillar candles.

Glass urns filled with greenery.

And…

a few more snaps of how it’s coming together…

Do tell!  What’s YOUR November decorating strategy?

Do you decorate for Christmas early, or do you save it all for December?

Have a happy day,

KL 🙂
