Next week marks my one year blogging birthday.
Last November, my twins were barely one-year old, my daughter was in grade one, and my husband was on his annual 20-day Asian business trip. I was a hot mess, completely minus the hot. My uniform: PJs, bed head, and a coffee cup. (I’ll save you the torture of including a picture.)
So if you had told me at this time last year that by November 2011, (a ) I’d be wearing wearing lip gloss again, or, (b) I’d have written close to 200 blog posts about my favorite topic ever, I would have spit out my coffee.
If you told me that this little blog I was going to create would be interesting to anyone but me, I would have told you that you were a-whole-lotta-cookoo. The idea that it would have over 100,000 views – and that over 600 real (vs imaginary) people would subscribe to it at their own will – would have had me buckled over in a giggle fit.
But, somehow, I did start that little blog in my PJs one evening – probably out of both desperation (for adult conversation) and naivety. Quite frankly, in those early weeks, I was completely oblivious of the whole enterprise of “home blogging” that already existed outside my little world.
All I knew was that I passionately loved decorating, and that I wanted to talk about it…and I guess I hoped that a few other decorating addicts might want to talk about it too. But for that matter, back then, I pretty much wanted to talk about anything that did not include Elmo, Handy Manny or Miley Cyrus.
I thought I’d mark the occasion next week.
And, unfortunately, I’m not nearly organized enough to have a week full of contests and giveaways like other bloggers have done (blame it on my now two-year old twins) .
But if you drop by next week, you might find out a little about how I caught the blogging bug, why I continue to blog, and the things I learned along the way.
I thought I’d mark the occasion with a totally casual little series about my blogging experience so far. I hope you’ll join me!
Have a great weekend, peeps.
P.S. Oh, and in case I don’t say it enough, thanks so very much for popping by this little corner of the blogging world! I genuinely appreciate each and every time you visit. I know there’s a million and fifty seven different places you could be right now. And, don’t be all shy about it: please COMMENT now and again! Comments make me happy, and they let me know you’ve been by!
