Egg on face. 😉
Remember a few weeks back, I said I could never do floral?
Well, um…I guess you should never say never.
I told you in a post back then that I have always steered away from using florals in my home, feeling they were too busy and too dowdy for me. Every time I thought I found a floral I liked, it would slowly irk me until I could no longer take it anymore; and the piece was eventually banished to where all decor things that irk me go…the linen closet!
It turns out that I just hadn’t found the right floral.
When I spotted these modern floral pillows today, the trumpets heralded. A light bulb went off. I immediately knew they’d be PERFECT for our recently re-decorated living room. It was love at first sight.
I didn’t think it was possible to find a floral that would work in that room, but, I was wrong! These floral pillows pull everything together. They pair with my new chocolate brown couch, and work with my turquoise accents in the room. And, not only that, they actually work with my pattern-crazy accent chair which I showed you earlier this summer.
Now, I actually feel a little sorry that went and dumped on poor floral like that.
Sorry, floral, I misjudged you.
My mistake was in thinking that all florals are created equal. They’re not. There’s your typical small-scale busy floral, and there’s *modern* floral, with big, bold whimsical blooms. Modern floral works so much better in this room, and with my home’s overall feel.
So here’s the lesson in this. When decorating, keep your mind open, try new things, and don’t be afraid to slay your own sacred decorating cows, whatever they may be. And, you just might end up with something you love!
Until next time, why not try something in your home you never thought you would?
