Easter Decorating Ideas: Mossy Bunny Easter Mantel

Mossy Easter bunny decor

This post was most recently updated on September 22nd, 2019

With Easter just a week away, I finally managed to pull together some Easter decorating around here!  The other day, I shared some of my Easter decorating ideas from the past few years.  (Click here if you missed that post.)  If you saw it, you’ll notice many of the same Easter decorations here; I just mixed them up in a different way.

I really liked the simplicity of the muted Easter mantel I created a couple of years back (see my 2011 Easter mantel, featured at Better Homes & Gardens).  So I decided to stick with the same color scheme, but I added some mossy, woodland-inspired items.  That mossy grapevine wreath has been re-purposed a bunch of times. You last saw it hanging on my front door as a St. Patrick’s Day wreath, no joke.  {BTW, have I ever told you how I love to re-use old wreaths again and again after I tire of them? Why yes, come to think of it, I have…right over here!}  I just pulled everything off, and started from scratch with my glue gun and some eggs!

I’m totally head-over-heels mad for that moss-covered bunny. He was a fab HomeSense (Canadian) find. (I added the blue velvet ribbon.) I’m also mad for HomeSense, but those of you who know me already know that!

You’ll see that I have a thing for the Easter bunny!  The other cute one is from Pier One.

This muted blue, vintage-looking Easter bunny has been around for awhile. He’s definitely my fave!

A little bit of decorating magic happened when I threw those blue speckled eggs into that moss-covered pot.  I just looooove how those colors look against one another!

I also found the newsprint-covered eggs at HomeSense, but they’d be a really easy diy Easter craft project.  All you’d need is newspaper, mod podge, and plastic eggs. (Please don’t look to closely at them.  I noticed through my camera lens that Easter Greetings is spelled “Easeter Greetings” all over the egg!  Made in China, maybe? Too funny!)

I added a few other little touches throughout the space, but kept it simple…

My 8yo daughter is going to decorate the mantel in our basement family room. I’m expecting lots of pink! 😉

I hope you enjoyed the Easter pictures!  Have a wonderful Spring weekend.
