Seriously, is there anything more boring than staining a fence? It’s watching paint dry, literally.
I’ve been quiet here over the past week because I’ve been a busy beaver in the backyard. It’s one of those years where everything out there looked like @#$*, um, I mean, needed some serious TLC before I could even start to enjoy the warm weather.
Over the past 3 summers, the backyard wasn’t on my priority list. Actually it wasn’t even on my radar. One of those summers I was 14 months preggers; well, ok, I was actually 7 months preggers with twins, which is pretty much the same. The following year I was so sleep-deprived that I didn’t even notice that summer came and went before the leaves started to fall. Then, last summer, I avoided the yard at all costs since chasing two rock-eating, sand-slinging 18-month old boys wasn’t my idea of fun.
But this summer, I am determined to have a yard that I can enjoy. The boys are finally at an age where being outside with them is fun.
It seemed like an insurmountable task a few weeks back: 5 doors needed painting, the fence and the deck needed to be re-stained, the shed trim needed to be painted, weeds needed to be pulled, rusted furniture needed spray paining, and…shall I go on, lol? But I lucked out with a few nice days while our sitter was here…so, a million fence posts later, and I’m almost done with the boring stuff. I’ve still got some doors to paint and a few gardening projects to complete, but I’ve finally reached a stage where we can start to relax a little out there.
So how about you? Did your garden need a makeover? Are you ready for summer?
Until next time,

Funny, I’ve always been the type who had the yard/garden that the neighbours envied….now all I do is work and it looks like crap! Life.

There’s only so much time in day…too bad we couldn’t clone ourselves into wife/mother/employee/homemaker/gardener, lol. Thanks for coming by, CA ~Kerri

Our yard is a disaster, and I suspect it will remain that way for years to come.
Demo garbage that never made it to the dump, dandelions as tall as a toddler because we can’t yet afford the lawn mower that we need for our 3/4 acre lawn…
Yeah. We’re those people.

Ha! Such a funny comment Ashley. It made me chuckle because we’ve been ‘those people’ too! I shudder to think what our neighbours thought of us. But there’s just so many more priorities when you have a young family! So, for now, pull the drapes and forget about it 😉 ~Kerri
