I said last week that I wasn’t going to bother with much Halloween decorating this year, particularly a  mantel. Ha! I should know better by now than to say such things! Even though our Fall mantel (with the giant peel and stick posters of our kids) could have stuck around through Halloween, I got the urge to change things up!  I was a little sad to take down the giant photos, but they’ll find a place in our Fall decorating again next year.

Easy Fall Decorating {How Fall Looks Around Here!}

“FALL!”  There…I said it.  I usually walk on egg-shells this time of year as any mention of “FALL!” can drive Summer fans over the edge. But if you’ve followed my decorating blog for more than a minute, you probably know that I’m cray-cray-crazy for Fall, and I’ve actually shown great self-discipline by staying quiet this long!  I hate to wish Summer away too, but you know what?  I might as well just admit that I’m sooo not a Summer kind of girl. Fall is definitely my pace. I saw the first leaves turn color this weekend, so I’m now itching to break out the pumpkins.   I decided to flip back through some of my Fall decorating pictures for inspiration.

How to Make a Photo Booth (Cheaply + Easily)

It’s been a crazy ride around here lately, but I finally had a chance to pull together a little tutorial on how to make a diy photo booth like the one at my daughter’s Broadway themed birthday party.

It was really quite easy and inexpensive, and Miss G was so happy with how it all turned out.

Photo booths are pretty trendy right now, so I knew I couldn’t be the only one crazy enough to think I could make one on my own! I did some research, and then came up with a plan for creating a diy photo booth that met our particular needs – i.e., one that could withstand the acrobatics of 10 tween-aged girls!

Here’s what I used (the important stuff, anyway):

.

  • Backdrop material: 3 cute plastic tablecloths from the Dollar Store!
  • Props: a basket of masks, mustaches, hats, etc.
  • Camera: my DSLR mounted on a tripod, with a shutter release remote.
  • Photo booth decor – string lights, cardboard chandelier, etc.
  • Poster board for the ‘Photo Booth Rules’
  • A bench
