Hope you are all enjoying summer! As you may know, I love changing my wreaths / door decor each season and for special holidays. (See A Year of DIY Wreaths / DIY Door Decor {How to make a wreath for any season}.) But I’ve been falling down on the job lately. Our front porch has been looking a little tired. (Kinda like me, ha.) Seriously, with three kids off for the summer, I can barely find a pair of matching flip flops, let alone carve out crafting time. But yesterday, I did manage to make something new for my front door.

You might remember that last summer, I made a beach-y sisal and starfish wreath and shared the tutorial here on my blog. (Just click below, if you missed it.)

I could have hung the starfish wreath again, but this summer, I wanted a little more color because I planted simple cream flowers in our pots, and it was feeling a little boring. I was going to make a floral wreath, but while on vacation last week, I found a cute wire basket at one of my favorite cottage decor stores, and I decided it might look cute on the door. I filled it with moss, and then layered in a bunch of pretty faux florals in muted purples and mauves.

I’m not at all sure why I decided to go with purples. I’m not usually a purple kinda girl. In fact, I don’t think you’ll find it anywhere in my home. But I do LOVE lavender (the flower, not the color), so I guess that was my inspiration. I actually really like how it looks against our blue door.

So how about you? What’s hanging on your front door these days?
