Instagram post 2196821717846656015_180915959 Anybody else love a Christmas village as much as I do? 🙋🏼‍♀️ This little nordic village has been on my mantel a few Christmases now. (Swipe to see this year’s version.) These were white when I bought them, but you could always paint an older set. In fact, I think my friend Christina @thediymommy had a tutorial on her blog last month for a dollar store set that she painted white and they turned out 👌🏻. Have a great evening!
Instagram post 2195778852643198838_180915959 I have a feeling these might be the only snowmen we see this Christmas ⛄️ . We’re back to rain and high winds, after a pretty sprinkling of snow this weekend. My hopes of skating on the pond during Christmas are slowly dying.😭 Elsa, where you at? I need your magic. #frozen
Instagram post 2195310366066415524_180915959 My latest blog post is all about how to get a cozy lake house vibe in any space, and without adding too much extra decor. I’m sharing some pics of our cottage decorated for the holidays, along with my 5 best tips for cozying up your home with a rustic, cabin-y charm. I’ll link up the post in my bio, or find it on my home page at apopofpretty.com.🙌🏻 Hope your Monday is going great!
Instagram post 2195059738064742916_180915959 Just your 2-week-before-Christmas reminder to keep calm and carry on. This is the point in December when the frenzy gets real. But, my new motto is #dontgetyourtinselinatangle 🌲 It’ll all get done, it always does. And, even if it doesn’t, the world won’t come to an end. 🤛 Instead of stressing about my to do list, I’m going enjoy my kids’ excitement.
Instagram post 2194542220233603524_180915959 The older I get, the more I realize how drawn I am to things that have childhood memories attached to them. Do you find the same? This is especially true when it comes to Christmas decorating. Take this sign, for instance. Did I need another sign? No 🤣. Did I immediately #addtocart? Yes 🤣. Our childhood Christmases and winters always involved a snowy hill and wood toboggans. I have vivid memories of sledding 🛷 with my sisters as soon as it snowed. So when I saw this sign, I knew it would be a perfect addition to my Christmas decor. I buy very little in new Christmas decor these days (I have way too much) but I’ll always make room for reminders of happy memories.❤️
Instagram post 2194379926790907158_180915959 For me, nothing brings back childhood Christmas memories more than the smell of a real Christmas tree. ❤️ We don’t use a real tree these days, so I always decorate with real cedar greenery on our front porch, and in a few vases inside. Definitely doesn’t compare to that glorious smell of a real tree, but it does the trick. 🌲 Hope you’re having an awesome weekend.
Instagram post 2193670217276534265_180915959 Cheers to it being Saturday, having a first sprinkling of snow, and the beginning of Christmas festivities this evening 🙌🏻. This year’s Christmas tree is decorated with greys and creams, and it’s definitely way more neutral than our cabin tree which is filled with classic red and plaid. But, our space here is much more limited, so I like how it quietly blends into the room. This year, I used wide grey plaid and ivory velvet ribbon, and some olive green satin ribbon tied on some of the ornaments. (The olive is a little hard to see in the photo.) Other than that, the only new ornaments are some sweet modern cream ones (Carpe Diem) that I couldn’t resist. Since I took this pic, I also added some cream pom pom garlands lol. What can I say, I’m definitely not a minimalist 🤣. Honestly, I think I need somebody to tell me to Just. Stop. Decorating.🤣 Please tell me 🙏🏻.
Instagram post 2193057585968325615_180915959 Just a closer look at how I used ribbon to accent the greenery on this mantel. Adding ribbon is a great way to make a fireplace mantel look a little more formal. But simple, unadorned, classic greenery on a mantel is also one if my favourite looks. So, basically? I pretty much love everything when it comes to Christmas decorating! 🤣🙌🏻🌲
Instagram post 2193032552130763057_180915959 Right now, I am in a long line doing what I swore I’d never do: shop for Christmas decor in December 😂. On a Friday no less. And, I can see sparkles reflecting from my nose when I look down lol. Tis the season! This was my mantel from a couple of years back, and it was FILLED with greenery and ribbon. I posted an article on the blog last week about the two different ways I like to hang greenery on a mantel. This year, I hung it as s swag instead. Hoping to grab a pic to share today. Have a happy Friday!
