Easter Decorating: Simple & Pretty
Even though Easter is late this year, the never-ending-winter-of-2014 made it seem like it crept up quickly. Until about a week ago, it still felt like mid-February, so I didn’t have much Easter decorating spirit. But it suddenly starting to feel a little spring-like here (yay for that!), and I can’t tell you how happy it made me to finally hang this Easter basket our front door last week. Just seeing that little pop of pink when I pull in the driveway does wonders for my soul.

Tulip Therapy
So. Apparently, it’s Spring.
You know…that season between Winter and Summer where tulips begin to peek through the soil? Kinda like this…
- The scene in our back garden since December.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not bitter. I’m totally happy for any of you who are basking in Spring weather. (OK, so maybe that was written with a hint of sarcasm ;-).) Spring comes late here at the best of times. It’s usually June (as in, almost Summer) before we can expect consistent Spring weather. But this particular Winter it’s been seriously never-ending. I think Mother Nature is enjoying all this ‘Frozen’ hype just a little too much.
Even after two weeks of beach and sunshine (thank you Florida), my sanity is still hanging in the balance. READ MORE
How to Make a Photo Booth (Cheaply + Easily)
It’s been a crazy ride around here lately, but I finally had a chance to pull together a little tutorial on how to make a diy photo booth like the one at my daughter’s Broadway themed birthday party.
It was really quite easy and inexpensive, and Miss G was so happy with how it all turned out.
Photo booths are pretty trendy right now, so I knew I couldn’t be the only one crazy enough to think I could make one on my own! I did some research, and then came up with a plan for creating a diy photo booth that met our particular needs – i.e., one that could withstand the acrobatics of 10 tween-aged girls!
Here’s what I used (the important stuff, anyway):
.
- Backdrop material: 3 cute plastic tablecloths from the Dollar Store!
- Props: a basket of masks, mustaches, hats, etc.
- Camera: my DSLR mounted on a tripod, with a shutter release remote.
- Photo booth decor – string lights, cardboard chandelier, etc.
- Poster board for the ‘Photo Booth Rules’
- A bench
