Today, I wanted to share a free Christmas printable with you. Our 8-year old daughter recently performed in a local production of Scrooge, so as a tribute to that experience, I wanted to somehow incorporate a little bit of Scrooge in our Christmas decorating this year. That sounds a bit bizarre, lol, since Scrooge gets a bad rap this time of year: “Don’t be such a Scrooge”, “Bah Humbug”, etc.. But, in the story, Scrooge eventually realizes the error of his stingy ways. Towards the end, he declares: “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year.” I’ve always loved those words, so I put them to paper, framed them, and displayed them on top of our hutch.

Cabinet-Top Christmas Display (Vignette): Floating Bulbs in Foliage
Hello again! I just remembered that Rhoda (from Southern Hospitality) is having a ‘Christmas vignette’ link-up today, so I thought I’d pop back and show you how I styled up a little cabinet in our living room for Christmas. I just realized, that sentence sounds a bit like gobbly-gook. If you have no idea what a ‘vignette’ is, or a ‘link up’ for that matter, not to worry! There’s not going to be a test at the end of this post, lol.
For this Christmas “vignette” (display), I tried to carry our champagne and blue tree colors through to the living room since the whole area is open concept. The tree is actually sitting in the middle of the living room and kitchen area, right behind that big white post.
I hung bulbs from some branches, just like I did on our mantel which is just across the room. READ MORE
Our Newly, ‘Bleu-tral’ Christmas Tree (Neutral + Blue)
The other day, I showed you our Newly, Neutral Christmas Tree, decorated mostly with champagne, white and chocolate brown decorations.
If you caught that post, you might remember that this is the first year I’ve decorated a completely neutral tree. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, and I was toying with adding a little pop of blue. (When it comes to blue, I have no self-control.) So, after living with the neutral tree for a few days …drumroll… I decided to add a few muted blue ornaments. Sorry to all you neutral lovers out there: I think I broke the cardinal rule of “neutral”!
Even with the blue, I think it’s still pretty neutral. (Well, let’s just say it’s neutral compared with last year’s red and turquoise Christmas tree!) So I guess now it’s a ‘bleu-tral’ tree!

Winter Wonderland Themed Christmas Tree (School Fundraiser)
I thought I’d share a few pics of the “Winter Wonderland”-themed tree that my sister and I decorated earlier this week as part of a fundraiser for my daughter’s school. It was really hard to get crisp, bright pictures in the school’s lighting, so if you can forgive the grainy shots, I think these will give you a feel for the kinds of ornaments we used to for a sparkly, icy effect.
These snowball branches inspired the theme. When I spotted them, they gave me a vision for the tree, and helped in narrowing down the other ornaments to buy.
We wanted to do a neutral Christmas tree anyway, so that it would appeal to as many people as possible since it was for a fundraiser.
Once we knew we were going for a ‘Winter Wonderland’ effect, we chose to use READ MORE
Simple Christmas Mantel Decor (Branches & Bulbs)
Yesterday, I mentioned that our neutral Christmas tree this year is a really big departure for me. Well, the same can be said for our Christmas mantel decor. Last year, I had a very traditional Christmas mantel, with lots of layers of full greenery, and pops of saturated color. (That Christmas mantel decorating tutorial is found here). I’m a really big fan of that look, but this year I was ready for a change.
I liked the very simple, wintery mantel I decorated back in November, which consisted of branches and pillar candles. So, for Christmas, I decided to simply build on that, rather than start from scratch. I added some white lights and my sparkly reindeer, and hung some pretty glass bulbs from the branches, and called it a day!
I lie: it was a little more tedious than that… READ MORE
